5 ways to slow down this Christmas
Taking time out this Christmas Season to Pause
As the crisp winter air wraps around us like a comforting blanket, there's something magical about the journey to birth during this cozy season. Today, I’m going to encourage you to slow down a bit. And I know if you have older children that’s hard, its so easy to get caught up in their excitement. So I’m going to ask you to find some joy in these little moments, to stop and appreciate them. They flash by so quickly. If you are expecting a baby the art of slow living, finding joy in the little moments, and embracing the warmth that comes with this special time in your life, is such a blessing that is so easily missed, in the hustle and bustle of Christmas Parties, nights out (because its your last for a while) and the pressure that goes with all that busyness.
Give yourself Permission to Pause: Stop and take a breath before responding to requests and emails. Stop and pause before you add yet another thing to the basket. Might it be better to wait and see if its needed? Stop and take a breather when you are feeling overwhelmed. Take yourself off up to that nest you are building in your labour space.
Curling Up with a Good Book: There's nothing quite like the simple pleasure of escaping into a good book. As your belly grows, find a cozy nook, wrap yourself in a soft blanket, and dive into the world of literature. Whether it's your hypnobirthing workbook, a novel, or a collection of easy to read short stories, let the words calm your mind.
Sipping Cocoa or Mulled Apple Juice: Warm drinks have a magical way of making everything feel better. Picture this: a steaming mug of cocoa cradled in your hands, or the fragrant aroma of mulled apple juice wafting through the air. Pop a Candle on and treat yourself, and let the warmth radiate from the inside out.
Candles, Lights, and Winter Nights: There's something enchanting about the soft glow of candles and twinkling lights during the winter season. Create a cozy ambiance in your space with candles that carry your favorite scents and the warm glow of fairy lights. Consider wrapping up in your favourite blanket or taking a stroll to admire the Christmas lights near where you live. Let the festive sparkle be a reminder of the magic you're creating within.
Wistfully Waiting: In the midst of preparing for your little one's arrival, take a moment to celebrate the quiet. This could be a moment of meditation, a gentle yoga session, or simply sitting in stillness, feeling the gentle kicks and movements within. These are the moments that create a bond between you and your baby that is truly special.
So, my lovely, embrace the cozy, the warm, and the confident. Slow down, enjoy the simplicity of the season, and relish in the magic of these precious moments. Being able to slow down at this busy time of year, is a blessing! Embrace it.
Wishing you a cozy and confident birth,
Gill
