Moving Your Cozy Birth to Yorkshire
With a major change to my personal circumstances I made the decision to move from Kent up to Yorkshire at the end of last year. It's a very big change. After years of running Medway Hypnobirth classes down in Kent, I made the bold decision to relocate. This journey wasn't just about moving my business; it was about reinventing it. Medway Hypnobirth wasn’t going to work anymore, and so I set about creating a brand that felt aligned to me, my way of thinking that would work for both me and my clients. I’m going to share the steps I took to make this transition, and how I’ve gone about breathing new life into my business.
So Firstly, moving to Rotherham in the South of Yorkshire was a bit of a ‘no-brainer’. I realised quite quickly that staying where I was in Kent was not going to be affordable. My Sister and her Husband had moved up here during lockdown and I was able to purchase a property that suited my needs at a price I could afford. Adding to that the beautiful countryside, and welcoming community. I really feel like I’ve fallen on my feet. It feels like the perfect location for Your Cozy Birth.
At the end of last year, once I’d made the decision to move, I quickly realised that ‘Medway Hypnobirth’ was going to have to change and I went through a whole process of looking for a new name. I tried out a few different business names. I looked at what I loved and how I wanted it to feel. I settled on Your Cozy Birth and I fell in love with the name. I feel like it sums up what I like to teach about birth so well.
So, I had a new name and a new location, all that I needed to do was start again! I knew that this wasn’t going to be easy, setting up a new business never is. However, I was really lucky to have some great colleagues around me who have been phenomenal with their support. I am part of the Love Your Birth team and have felt so supported by Abby and by the other local hypnobirthing teachers.
Back in April, I set up a new website and spent quite a lot of time transferring and updating the information. Special thanks to Sam Bevington’s Birth Business Growth Club for the hows and whys and also to Becky Blinkiewicz of Calm in the Birth Room for all the support and friendship she has extended in my direction. It has made my transitions so much smoother.
I also got going with my social media before the move actually took place. I aim to post regularly, with all sorts of thoughts, feelings and tips for the families that I encounter. The teaching of the actually hypnobirthing doesn’t really change between locations although I have updated my course slides with Your Cozy Birth branding
Relocating My Cozy Birth hypnobirthing classes to Yorkshire has been an ongoing journey, both professionally and personally. It has reminded me of the power of adaptability and the beauty of embracing change. It has been a privilege to start teaching my first clients in this location and I am learning all about the culture of the surrounding maternity services
If you’ve reached the end of this — Well done! I’d love to hear about you and if you have any questions about hypnobirthing and how it can help you to a cozy, confident birth. Then please do let me know.
